Aliens 263 Earthmen 0 (cd, 11tx & 2 video, Happybeat) – Some weeks ago i received this email: ‘Helo Now we have many fans to shrink and take home in a jar because our first record was #1 all over your planet more or less’ – ^_^? Hum? What’s that? – And its italian translation is even worse.. – I’m a curious komakino, and then i go visiting the website i found linked, – and here You are its explanation: a band composed by aliens, or better, puppet-aliens, and having used an intergalactic translator, and that’s why the misunderstanding. – And how cool! They play very nice, – right some puppet-pop, with Casio keyb and other toys, some bass guitar lineas, and video done like toy theatre.. – It seems like Remington Super 60 (listen the duet he/she on No Other Elephants At All) joining forces with Brittle Stars, playing together a concert at Muppetshow. Our Kind Of Universe is a delicate and melancholic song, – when You hear it it’s like You see the tiny pink alien with a tear on one of her three eyes looking to the sky, – on Creepy Bugs She sings ‘we’re not creepy bugs, we are your friends’. And this album seems to be their third release, after The Space Age Sounds of.. and Ring Tone Party, that is ‘sci-fi sounds and cheesy jingles for your cel phone or listening pleasure’. More songs: Rice Pudding USA, a very nice 6o’s lounge ye_ye with a fantastic guitar, and then a pure pearl: Chrysler Mint Imperial, ‘if You wanna buy a car buy a Ford’, with ‘claps’ and final laughs. – Too nice indeed, and clever as concernig ideas. – I guess They have a lot of fun. ^_^. And i cannot but interview Them. – Warmly suggested.

k: hello! i’m very excited doing this interview, – i never interviewed puppets, and neither aliens (notwithstanding i feel an alien and someone told me puppets have a life more exciting than mine). Then i’m having a double experience now. Anyway, i was looking at the cover picture of Your fantastic cp.. on the car bonnet there are some ‘humans’ drawn.. are You dangerous? Do i have to say to people to stay home when You are in the arounds?
Elks: oh yes we are Very Dangerous and must be Obeyed At All Times or not.
k: ok, the question is easy: why playing music just down here on planet Earth?
Elks: well you could not hear it if we were on the moon or something unless we had Bigger Amplifiers.
k: What does music feel like for an alien?
Elks: like a happyface lollipop in a reverse gravitation unit but louder. k: ‘Our kind of universe’ is my favorite one. Extremely sweet. Homesick? Do You plan to come back home somedays?
Elks: we are not sick of home yet so we will probably stay here at least until we get our royalties.
k: How is the typical day of a puppet-alien?

Elks: the Elks is an earth aminal with 4 legs eyes on stalks and a washboard we are a bit like that apart from the legs and washboard.
k: Would You barter Your flying saucer with a ford?
Elks: we could consider a Nebulon Warblecraft and a big bag of Chocolate Chewing Nuts perhaps.

Elks: what is stuck in the bottom of a boat and sings white xmas – Bung Crosby [Bing Crosby, lounge music icon, i guess – ndk].
k: Have You ever been discriminated because of your nature in the music business?
Elks: no that is because we are Very Dangerous.
k: What kind of Music do You like listening to?
Elks: we want some records by Sooty [Harry Corbett’s handpuppet, very popular since early 5o’s BBC programs – k’s note] the famous english puppet and TV show but Sooty has no voice and we have not found any sometimes we listen to Lawrence Welk who has a voice but does not sing we think it is a conspiracy.
k: how many humans need does it take to screw a light bulb?
